Extracapsular ligament replacement is often used for cruciate ligament tears in small dogs (as is the TTA method ). Here, a plastic band is attached outside the joint in the direction of the anterior cruciate ligament. The type of fixation differs for the respective extracapsular ligament replacement methods.
The following extracapsular ligament replacement methods are available:

Lateral thread reins according to Flo, De Angelis
Here, the effect of the cruciate ligament outside the knee joint is simulated using a non-absorbable, stable thread by attaching it to the sesamoid bone of the thigh and with a drill hole in the shinbone.
Lateral thread reins according to Meutstege
An alternative method – very similar to the one mentioned above. You can find a comparison of both methods here:
Tight rope (Arthrex)
Here the ligament replacement is attached with drill holes in the thigh and shinbone.
Ruby
Here the attachment takes place with bone anchors in the thigh and shinbone (Ruby)
Swivelock (Arthrex)
Here an extracapsular cruciate ligament replacement is attached using a bone anchor.
